There is no reason to open a NOMEDIA file because most of them are completely blank, so when you view on in a text editor, it will not show you anything. The only exception is that if you have renamed a photo or video to a NOMEDIA so that it will be hidden, to view it again and let the file to be normal, just rename it back to a PNG, JPG MP4 etc.
